With over 20 years of higher education fund development and alumni relations experience, Ragan D. R. Royal has wide-ranging expertise in annual and major giving, campaign fundraising, and strategic planning. She leads a highly successful fund development team at Northwestern, Kellogg School of Management. Regan also has served as the associate vice president of development at the University of Maryland University College and held leadership roles at Tuskegee University; Syracuse University, during its first $1 billion campaign; Howard; and Michigan State University.
Ragan earned her bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Wayne State University and worked at Chrysler Corporation in the marketing department before entering into higher education fund raising. Realizing her passion for fund-raising immediately, she completed a master’s degree in philanthropic studies at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Ragan often says, “Her work is the best collide of doing good and well, along with her passion education”.
Ragan has taught and often consults, offering smaller colleges, universities and non-profits best in practice techniques to maximize their philanthropic efforts. Her company, Royal Concepts Inc. publishes, a memorabilia book. The College Memory Book helps college students chronicle their college experience, offering thought provoking, universal themes to assist in guiding student’s documentation.
Ragan enjoys traveling, reading, dining — NOT to be confused with eating and all things “luxury”. She has been around the world, touching every continent several times other than Australia. She has plans to travel there for her birthday in September-2019. She has an incredible network of friends, female and male, that she travels with each September and February, and enjoys time with her family. Fall is her favorite time of year, the colors her birthday, the clothes and the fact most novice travelers are back to work and school.
