    April is an accomplished executive and business leader with a deep understanding of conducting business across borders and building effective teams despite language and cultural differences. She has extensive experience structuring, leading and negotiating mergers, acquisitions, carveouts, joint ventures and other strategic alliances around the globe for multinational companies and addressing international challenges, particularly in China, Brazil, Europe, India, the Philippines and Australia.  Additionally, April  has significant experience leading and managing people, including teams of 200+ professionals.

    Currently, she is Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Meritor, Inc., a NYSE traded company and a leading global supplier of mobility, drivetrain, electric axles, braking and aftermarket solutions for commercial vehicle, construction, agricultural, defense and industrial markets. As a member of the executive leadership team and a trusted advisor, she is actively engaged in all aspects of the Company’s business including developing and implementing strategic initiatives through investment in emerging technologies, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other adjacencies.  Ms. Boise has global responsibility for all legal, regulatory compliance, corporate governance and government affairs matters including managing significant risks, and environmental, asbestos and legacy liabilities and developing effective shareholder activism response plans and global compliance programs.  She is an astute business leader and previously led the organizational realignment of a global business facing significant market changes.  She has managed global teams based in the U.S., Europe, Asia and South America.

    April has played a key role as a member of the executive leadership team at three different multi-billion dollar revenue companies each operating in dynamic end markets around the world including transportation, oil and gas, mining, agriculture, construction, defense, and automotive.

    April has more than twenty years’ experience advising boards of directors and executive leadership teams of public and private companies in a number of industries including financial services, insurance, retail, healthcare, and manufacturing. Previously, Ms. Boise was a corporate partner at an AmLaw 200 law firm where she was the first woman managing partner of its headquarters office and a member of the firm’s eight-person executive committee. She effectively drove  new strategic thinking regarding revenue and profit models during a period of significant legal industry change and economic uncertainty. Additionally, she was the firm’s hiring partner, essentially responsible for “bolt on” acquisitions and growing firm revenue by recruiting and integrating profitable practices. Further, Ms. Boise was the chair of the firm’s Private Equity group and a founder and chair of its women’s initiative.

     Boards and Community Affiliations:

    April  has always been active in the broader business and charitable community.  Past roles include:  Board of Directors and Compensation Committee Member, Taylor Oswald Insurance Company; Audit Committee Member and Board of Trustees, University Hospitals System ($2B revenue); Chair of the Visiting Committee — Cleveland Marshall School of Law, and Board of Trustees of the St. Luke’s Foundation, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation and Team NEO (an organization focused on economic development and job creation).  She is a former member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

     Education:

    April  received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Michigan Business School, magna cum laude, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School.
